Let's change our city together
School Outreach Programs: Through this, we are able to reach the next generation by conducting school assemblies. We would be able to offer assemblies on staying out of gangs, not using drugs, remaining abstinent, and staying in school. This will enable us to encourage the next generation to make good decisions regarding their futures. We would have a fresh approach on the presentation aspect by offering hip-hop/rap, dance, and the arts.
After School Programs: TXDC After School reaches out to children and families to create a second-home like atmosphere for when kids get out of school. Many of our children are dependent on single mothers supporting and raising multiple children. Often after school, these children are left to their own supervision while their parents or guardians are working. In this gap of time, ARDC After School Program provides a safe place for a snack, recreation, Reading Skill improvement, access to the computer lab for Math foundations, daily character building & Bible lessons, and finally, a nutritious dinner at the end of the each day.
Through the daily time spent with the kids in our After School Program, volunteers can form mentor-like relationships. For us, it’s all about the relationship, establishing trust, and seeing them look up in hope and begin to dream.
Girl Night (PreK-5th Grade): Friday nights are all out Princess Nights! We’re reaching out to the girls (5yrs-5th grade) of the TXDC community to explore the Royal Family we are adopted into through Jesus Christ! These precious girls have a limited idea of what value they hold and how they should be treated. What if they understood what it meant to walk, talk, and live like the Princess that God has called them to be? Each night, through games, crafts, Biblical life lessons, and small groups we are showing them that God has handpicked each one to be a strong, beautiful princess in His Kingdom.
Young Women (6th Grade & Up): We are going through the book, “Lies Young Women Believe” by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Dannah Gresh. Its a powerful Book that express the lies we walk around believing, for example, “God is not enough,” “Pretty girls are more valuable,” “I need a boyfriend,” and brings the light and love of God’s Word to them. Its the truth that sets us free!
Boys Night (PreK-5th Grade): Every Tuesday night, we are reaching out to the boys (5yrs-5th grade) of the TXDC community to build mentorship & discipleship relationships and a 2nd-home place for them off the streets. We do this through various activities including sports and small groups. To reach this generation, its going to take Godly men coming to their community, making a intentional effort to build a relationship they can trust, and living out the love of Jesus in an authentic way. We believe God has a powerful calling on these young men and strive to see their potential in Christ drawn out to its fullest extent!
Young Men (6th Grade & Up): Every Wednesday night, we are reaching out to the young men of the TXDC community to build mentorship & discipleship relationships and a 2nd-home place for them off the streets. We do this through various activities including sports and small groups. To reach this generation, its going to take Godly men coming to their community, making a intentional effort to build a relationship they can trust, and living out the love of Jesus in an authentic way. Sports Camps: During the summer time we provide Sports Camps for kids during the week. Everything from Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball. These camps are geared towards not only sports education but life skills.
DC Kids Summer: Summer time is critical in our communities; school is out and so many of our kids are left with a lot of free time and not a lot of supervision! Through the DC Kids Summer program we will make the most of this season by providing a place where the will encounter the life-changing love of Jesus, make new friends, have a nutritious meal, participate in Crossfit Kids, and keep their minds sharp with Academics Lab. Its our heart to impact these kids spiritually, relationally, intellectually, and physically this summer! This program will be specifically designed to engage the children of the TXDC community PreK (5yrs) – 5th Grade of the School Year.
Project Prevention: Project Prevention is a ministry of the Texas Dream Center which partners with the Department of Human Services to aid families with open cases solely based on the inability to provide basic needs to their family due to poverty. Project Prevention aims to send teams to go out weekly to deliver food, baby supplies, toiletries, cleaning supplies, furniture, beds and other necessities to families that have been referred to us by DHS case workers. More importantly than provision of supplies, we desire to build lasting relationships with these families to provide a support for them through trying seasons. Through consistency in their lives, prayer for the family, and a sense of adoption among the volunteers we believe these families can be saved. Our goal is to help these families make life-long changes and literally change the destiny of their family.
Adoption/Crisis Pregnancy: The TX Dream Center could help those who are considering adoption or abortion. We would be able to counsel with both the men and women who may be in a crisis pregnancy. Through this, we can provide resources to help them make an educated decision.
Financial Assistance Program (Financial Peace University): This will enable us to provide classes to help teach and train anyone who would like to be better in handling finance. This will help provide the community with a better understanding on financial planning and future saving plans. This class will teach people how to win when it comes to handling money.
